The Champ was making the single night visit to the city for an appearance at an annual David Foster Foundation benefit Gala. While it was sad to hear the days of Muhammad Ali signing autographs appear to be all but over (he was very frail on a recent visit to Toronto.) We do look back at some special and more memorable encounters we had with the Champ. One special time is certainly in Cleveland during 1997. When we heard that Ali was going to be the featured autograph guest at The National, we got the HoundsTVmobile going and made the journey to Cleveland for America’s biggest memorabilia show of the year. It’s now simply known as “The Goal.” It happened in Moscow, Russia on September 28, 1972 when Canada defeated the U.S.S.R. in a highly charged and dramatic hockey series.
