Lily Allen stops in Toronto to talk about new album – few fans care at Muchmusic

TORONTO (HoundsTV) Feb 9, 2009 – British pop chanteuse Lily Allen has seemed to make gossip headlines lately with her antics more than her music. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has blogged about Allen repeatily perhaps making her seem like a bigger star then she really is. A recent promotional trip to Toronto seemed to confirm that point.
So few fans turned up at the Queen St. studios of Muchmusic to greet Allen that the television station scraped plans last minute to bring Lily outside to greet fans who usually assemble outside the street-front studio (normal for a MOD live-to-air taping.) When HoundsTV quizzed a Much staffer as to why Allen didn’t come outside – they quipped, “the weather was a little cold for Lily.”
Say what? Actually, Toronto warmed up considerably the last few days to reach almost record temperatures for February. The weather certainly didn’t bother this much more popular singer at Muchmusic last week – she braved freezing temperatures and snow to greet the fans outside.
As for how Lily Allen was away from the spotlight? Outside of the studios in Toronto? “She just won’t smile and scowled…” is how one celebrity photographer put it. The shots seemed to prove it.
UPDATE: Ok, maybe Lily Allen is a little more popular with Toronto then first thought (just maybe not with the Muchmusic set?) After Lily’s small Phoenix concert in April sold-out in minutes it was moved today to the bigger Sound Academy.
