CNN anchor John Roberts honored with CMW broadcast Hall of Fame award – brings along new lady love – CNN anchor Kyra Phillips

TORONTO (HoundsTV) Mar 13, 2009 – Former CITY-TV personality John “JD” Roberts was back in Toronto this week being recognized for his work at a Canadian Music Week gala that inducted him into the broadcast Hall of Fame. John took a short break away from his CNN hosting duties in New York.
But Roberts wasn’t the only CNN personality to make the trip north for the week. Anchor Kyra Phillips accompanied Roberts to many of the Canadian music week festivities. While they certainly were trying to keep their relationship on the down lo – HoundsTV cameras soon figured out they had indeed become a couple.
We first caught site of the beautiful Ms. Phillips mingling about with guests in the reception area for the gala dinner honoring John into the broadcast Hall of Fame. When approached and asked if they wouldn’t mind posing for photo together – they politely declined and said “no thanks.”
It was actually them declining the photo op that got me thinking… It was a very picture-friendly event. Why would they care about posing together for a photo?
At that time, HoundsTV wasn’t even thinking they were a couple – just maybe a shot of the two CNN anchors together would make for a nice picture. Besides, wasn’t Phillips married? As recently as last year?
Krya lit up the blogosphere a couple of years ago when a live mic she was still wearing in the ladies room caught her private remarks – including the gushing about of her husband.
The next evening, HoundsTV was covering the CHUM Radio Fanfest Concert at MTV Canada’s home – the Masonic Temple. And who do we spot in the media/vip area upstairs enjoying the live sounds of Katy Perry and Our Lady Peace – but Roberts and Phillips together again. And this time their actions left no doubt they had indeed become a couple. As soon as they realized I had fired a few frames of them cuddling together – Phillips quickly turned her head away.
It’s nice to see more then just news can blossom on the CNN set – but some love as well.
