Brent Butt and Corner Gas cast at eTalk for series finale - Is a Corner Gas movie next?
TORONTO (HoundsTV) Apr 13, 2009 – The Cast of Corner Gas celebrated its series finale in Toronto with a special appearance on CTV’s eTalk. After the taping of the show, fans had the chance to meet and greet series creator Brent Butt and the entire cast and get memorabilia signed from the show.

The series started in 2004 with modest hopes but when it consistently drew 1 million plus viewers each week CTV knew they had something special on their hands. Corner Gas is now considered the most successful comedy series in Canadian television history.

During the interview with eTalk hosts Ben Mulroney and Tanya Kim, Brent Butt said a “Corner Gas movie is a definite possibility.” and was something the cast and crew had certainly discussed in the past.

Judging by the wild applause and cheers from the eTalk audience that news of a possible Corner Gas movie brought – it must be something that CTV television executives are seriously considering.

“CORNER GAS has kept Canadian families, including my own, laughing for the last six seasons. Thanks to your combined talents as cast and crew, Brent, Lacey, Wanda, Hank, Oscar, Emma, Davis, Karen and the residents of Dog River are now part of Canada’s comedy history. While my time on the set was brief, my memories of that day will last a lifetime.” – Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada (and past guest star)

The cast was planning a low-key get together at a Toronto restaurant in the evening to watch the series finale together.

UPDATE (April 14th) - Talk about going out with a bang. The series finale of Corner Gas was watched by almost 3 million Canadian viewers last night. That makes it one of the largest audiences ever for a scripted Canadian television program.
