Led Zeppelin guitarist JIMMY PAGE comes to 2008 Toronto Film Festival with the EDGE and JACK WHITE - all prove to be very difficult autographs
The documentary, IT MIGHT GET LOUD made a 2008 world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Notable for one reason - the doc features Jimmy Page, U2’s The Edge, and Whitestripes Jack White, all of whom came to Toronto to help promote the documentary.
I was anxious to try Page as I have been sitting on some beautiful Led Zeppelin albums already autographed by Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. We greeted Jimmy Page at the airport on arrival to the Toronto festival. Jimmy explained nicely he was NOT going to be doing any signing this trip. He was kind of, “finished with that.” And though many opportunities to get close to Page presented themselves over the couple of days he was in Toronto - He basically stuck to his word and signed nothing. At least, almost nothing.
Heading to the airport to depart Toronto we caught Jimmy one last time to plead our case. It wasn’t easy. But Page did relent and sign a couple autographs. It is clear that Jimmy Page will be signing very little Led Zeppelin memorabilia in the years to come. Treasure what you got and if you must buy a Page autograph, do it very carefully.
