Paul McCartney to meet fans and sign Electric Arguments record in-person at HMV Oxford Street
December 18, 2008 by Richard Budman ·

One of pop music’s living legends – Paul McCartney is set to make a rare in-store autograph appearance this Sunday, December 21st, 2008 at HMV’s flagship Oxford Street store in London. Now, before you start dusting off the Beatles albums for Sir Paul to sign – the long list of rules posted note he will be strictly signing just his new Electric Arguments record.
We were going to ask if there is anybody at the signing this Sunday that gets a shot or two of McCartney they might like to share on HoundsTV.com – please contact us. But after reading the tight “security” procedures surrounding the rules for meeting Paul – it not only looks like photography will be difficult. It seems you might have to surrender some privacy rights if you really wish to meet the living legend.
“Please understand that we do not wish to intrude on your privacy, but you may also be asked to show the contents of your pockets.” – rules posted for HMV Paul McCartney signing
We get the restriction on the signing of other memorabilia. But why the harsh restrictions on photography? Considering how few fans will actually get up to meet McCartney – sharing a little video and photos online can’t be such a bad thing.
Looks like if you really want to get the good stuff signed by the ex-Beatle – it will require some time, energy, and good old-fashioned autograph hounding.
UPDATE: McCartney HMV wristbands handed out today
Brad has just informed me that a U.K. collector friend of HoundsTV did secure today (Dec’18) a couple of the highly coveted HMV wristbands that should guarantee an autograph from McCartney this Sunday at the record store.
