Paul Newman - legendary actor, racecar owner, humanitarian, and one tough autograph passes at 83
One of the last few legends left in Hollywood died earlier today at 83. I can certainly remember meeting Paul Newman on a few occasions over the years. While Mr. Newman was very private over the last decade and tough to bump into - the annual IndyCar race in Toronto would bring him to Toronto. While you stood no chance seeing Newman at the track - he would never stray from a private drivers area. You would stand a chance seeing Newman leave the hotel for the track - usually at around 5am. Most times he would NOT sign and just offer a curt “hello.” But every so often, Newman would take the pen and do a couple of signatures. And when he gave the autograph - what an autograph it was!
Paul Newman had one of the most beautiful autographs in the business. RIP Paul. You will be missed.
