NEWS: Justin Bieber out for ice cream in Toronto days ahead of Air Canada Centre show

Pint-sized mega star Justin Bieber was spotted out in Toronto yesterday by some fans and @reemisradd got some great shots. Bieber is on a break from his hugely successful tour that brings Justin to the Air Canada Centre in a few days for a sold-out show.

Bieber was spotted by fans enjoying ice-cream with his bodyguard in the Yonge Dundas area. They tried moving quickly through the building crowd that started to follow them. Justin and crew, who have gotten used to escaping mobs of teenage girls – quickly found entry to the Eaton Centre underground parking and disappeared.

Back in 1997 Canada Post issued a set of stamps to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series which pitted Canada vs. Russia and involved the very best players in world of hockey. The “Series of the Century” was famously won when Canada’s Paul Henderson scored the winning goal in the final game.

(May 19, 2010 – Toronto) The Prince of Darkness, metal legend Ozzy Osbourne made a brief stop in Toronto, Canada. Ozzy was in Toronto talking to select media about his new record, “Scream.”

HoundsTV caught up with Ozzy as he was exiting a Queen St. recording studio after doing press interviews and Osbourne was cool about signing his recently released autobiography, “I Am Ozzy.” This is a first edition hardcover book (391 pages.)

A member of Ozzy’s entourage, in reference to the just signed book, couldn’t help remark, “I’ll look for that book on the internet.” HoundsTV response: “You’ll find it.”

In Celebration of Vanguard’s 60th Anniversary and Record Store Day on April 17, 2010, Vanguard re-issued her 1960 seminal debut, “Joan Baez”

The 60th Anniversary is re-issued with original vinyl artwork and stickered with the Vanguard 60th Anniversary sticker. Vanguard only pressed 500 copies in this extremely limited edition.

This Joan Baez RSD exclusive by Vanguard only made their way into very few record stores where all copies got snapped up by eager collectors. HoundsTV managed to get 1 copy from a shop in Florida.

A new feature documentary about the legendary band the Doors, “When You’re Strange” recently opened in a few theatres across North America and will play on television later this year. The film is narrated by Johnny Depp.

To celebrate the release of the documentary, a limited edition 7″ vinyl (2,500) was released for Record Store Day. It quickly sold-out. HoundsTV managed to score two copies. Side A features People Are Strange and the B side is The Crystal Ship.

Columbia Records gets in the Record Store Day spirit with the release of a Them Crooked Vultures 10″ double-sided picture vinyl that features “Mind Eraser, No Chaser” and an exclusive live song, along with a B-side of interview material.

Them Crooked Vultures is the rock supergroup, featuring John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) and Josh Homme (Queens Of The Stone Age) After their debut smash hit record, the band has been successfully touring the world. This limited edition picture vinyl is meant to serve as a tease for an upcoming 2nd album from Them Crooked Vultures – something the band has just recently confirmed doing.

Homme is something of an honorary ambassedor for Record Store Day. If you haven’t seen the video where he explains why. You should as Homme displays a very natural comedic gift in addition to the music he has become famous for.

SOLD: John Lennon – The SINGLES BAG Vinyl Limited Edition collection $49 for Record Store Day

In celebration of Record Store Day in North America (April 17th), EMI Music released a limited edition John Lennon vinyl package that was sold exclusively by participating independent music retailers. The John Lennon SINGLES BAG collection, individually numbered of 7,000 quickly sold-out that day.

The John Lennon Singles Bag (limited edition), features an individually numbered Kraftpak envelope with button & string closure; custom plastic adaptor hub. 24” x 36” poster + three postcards and three 45 RPM vinyl singles with replicated original artwork. Includes such tracks as “Mother,” “Imagine,” and “Watching the Wheels.”

Notable in the Singles Bag is the limited reprinting of the Paul Goresh famous last photographs of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The photo is included on the singles cover and postcard.

SALE: Rolling Stones numbered Plundered My Soul 7″ vinyl single released on Record Store Day $25

The Rolling Stones dropped a new single in 2010 – and it’s not a bad one. Might have something to do with the fact it was actually recorded 38 years earlier for the Exile On Main Street album sessions. Plundered My Soul was either lost or just forgotten about according to The Stones (and considering this was ‘72 and the prime of their partying years, “forgotten about” isn’t too surprising.)

But it has been re-discovered and issued as a single in celebration of Record Store Day on April 17th, 2010. As with most of the limited edition vinyl issued for RSD, The Stones single quickly sold-out.

But HoundsTV did get a couple. The 7″ vinyl is individually numbered of 7,500. B side is “All Down The Line.”

SoundGarden had a big weekend in April, 2010. On Friday, April 16th the band re-formed and played Its first show together in 13 years. Chris Cornell and the boys played a “secret” show at the Showbox in Seattle.

The next day, in celebration of Record Store Day. SoundGarden released a limited edition 7″ (3,000) orange vinyl of “Hunted Down” & “Nothing To Say” The SUBPOP pressed vinyl also includes a coupon code to download MP3’s of the songs.

With only very limited amounts of this orange vinyl scattered in cities across the world – it quickly sold-out. HoundsTV did manage to score a few copies.

The Barenaked Ladies made a surprise lunch time concert appearance at First Canadian Place in Toronto in support of their just released new studio album – All In Good Time.

After their performance, The Barenaked Ladies signed their new CD for the few hundred people in attendance. HoundsTV managed to get a very limited number of these new, critically acclaimed CD’s signed by the band – Ed Robertson, Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, and Tyler Stewart. These will not last long so order now.
